If you’re in the mood for some freshly baked bread but don’t have the time or patience for a lengthy process involving yeast and kneading, then this soda bread recipe is the perfect solution. With only a handful of ingredients and just 5 minutes of preparation time, you can have a warm and crusty loaf of bread in no time.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp of salt
  • 1 tsp of baking soda
  • 1 ½ cups of buttermilk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (218°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda until well combined.
  3. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk.
  4. Using a wooden spoon or your hands, mix the ingredients together until a shaggy dough forms. Don’t overmix the dough or it will become tough.
  5. Transfer the dough to the prepared baking sheet and shape it into a round loaf. Use a sharp knife to score a deep X on the top of the bread.
  6. Bake the bread for 30-40 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
  7. Allow the bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

This soda bread recipe is incredibly versatile and can be customized to your liking. You can add in some raisins, nuts, or seeds for extra flavor and texture. You can also experiment with different types of flour, such as whole wheat or rye, for a heartier bread.
